Contemporary Art Center

We take the dead places in Minneapolis and hire artists to turn them into spaces of bliss.

The Walker recognizes that it is part of a community. A community that exists not just within its’ four walls. A community that isn’t just a group of people with a collection of similarly held beliefs. The Walker has been a part of Minneapolis for 146 years. Our Cherry and Spoon have become synonymous with the city itself. With that comes responsibility. So when we saw that years out from the pandemic there were buildings and areas of our community lying shuttered and struggling to come back to life. We said “it’s time to shine a light on these icons, these dormant beauties”.

A simple example of what can be done that makes a big impact. Lee’s Liquor Lounge lights have gone out and what a beautiful addition to the Minneapolis skyline to restore them.

On the bricks of Lee’s, and every site, will be a plaque with the site, artist, exhibit and QR code to a website program for the exhibition.

The QR code works, but have a link anyway and pages below.
